Custom Themes
Style your forms with custom colours, fonts, and branding.
Customise how your form looks to match your brand. Theme settings are applied at the form level - each form can have its own look.
Pro plan required - Custom themes are available on the Pro plan. Forms on the Free plan use the default theme.
Accessing theme settings
- Open your form in the builder
- Click Theme in the toolbar
- The theme panel opens on the right side of the canvas
Changes preview in real time on the canvas, so you can see exactly how your form will look before going live.
Colours
Set two main colours that control your form's appearance:
| Colour | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Primary | Buttons, selection highlights, progress indicators, and interactive elements |
| Background | The form container background |
Enter colours as hex codes (e.g. #FF5733), RGBA values, or CSS named colours.
Choosing good colours
- Contrast matters - your primary colour needs to be readable against your background. Dark backgrounds need light primary colours, and vice versa. Aim for a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 for text readability.
- Test both states - check how selected and unselected choice options look. The primary colour is used for the selected state, so make sure it stands out clearly.
- Less is more - two well-chosen colours create a cleaner look than trying to match every brand colour. Let your primary colour do the work.
Font
Change the typeface for all text in your form. Select from the available font families in the dropdown. The font applies to all text - prompts, options, buttons, and the end screen.
Font tips
- Legibility first - decorative fonts can be hard to read on mobile. If your brand font is highly stylised, test it on a small screen before going live.
- Size is fixed - the font size is set automatically based on the form layout. You control the typeface, not the size.
Logo
Upload your brand logo to display in the form header area.
- Recommended formats - PNG with transparent background or SVG
- Size - the logo is scaled to fit the header. A horizontal logo works best - square or vertical logos may appear small.
Branding badge
By default, forms show a "Powered by Clipform" badge. On the Pro plan, you can remove it:
- Per-workspace default - go to Settings > Workspace and toggle Powered by Clipform off
- Per-form override - individual forms can override the workspace setting from the form builder
See Billing & Subscription for more on workspace branding settings.
Previewing your theme
Use the Preview button in the builder toolbar to see your form as a respondent would. This opens a full preview that includes your theme settings, logo, and branding badge. Check it on both desktop and mobile to make sure everything looks right.
